Hi, and God bless you! I'm Sister Rose, and in 2010 I established the Friends of the Poor nonprofit. Experiencing the poverty in Vietnam triggered my passion to “save souls." While working at a women's homeless shelter on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, I began collecting aluminum cans to raise money to help those in need in Vietnam. I did that for a long time, earning the nickname "Sister Can" before establishing Friends of the Poor as a nonprofit in 2010. With funds from Friends of the Poor I am able to travel to Vietnam every year and: visit parishes and villages, give money to families to buy rice and noodles, pay teacher salaries, purchase books for students, help build water systems and chapels and more.
